Celebrating 5 years of the WHO FCTC, looking 5 years ahead |

Today
we mark the 5th anniversary of the entry into force of the WHO
Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. As with all anniversaries, today
provides an opportunity both to reflect on and celebrate past successes and to
look ahead to what we hope the future will hold. The
FCTC is a remarkable achievement. It is the first treaty negotiated through the
auspices of the WHO, a resounding recognition that international law has a
critical role to play in global health. It already has 168 Parties.

coincide with International Childhood Cancer Day (15 February) highlighting the
fact that these organizations are joining forces in the fight against a lack of
awareness of childhood cancer.

My child matters Supports Seven New Childhood Cancer Care Projects |

France and Geneva, Switzerland - February 15, 2010 –
Today, on the International Childhood Cancer Day, the International Union
Against Cancer (UICC) and sanofi-aventis announced that seven new projects for improving
cancer care for children in low- and middle-income countries have been selected
in Cameroon, Ecuador, Mozambique, Panama and Thailand.

Geneva, 4th February 2010 – On the occasion
of World Cancer Day, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC),
the Cervical Cancer Action (CCA) coalition and the International Union Against
Cancer (UICC) call for the implementation of comprehensive strategies to reduce
cervical cancer — one of the leading causes
of cancer among women in developing countries, and the second most common
cancer in women worldwide.

World cancer Day 4 February: Are you ready? |

Cancer (UICC) will launch its new campaign “Cancer can be prevented too”. This new theme focuses on how the risk
of developing cancer can significantly be reduced through simple measures
related to tobacco use, alcohol consumption, sun exposure, healthy weight and
protection against cancer-causing infections. UICC invites you to join the
